The Zebra cake is a very soft and dry cake perfect for breakfast. It seems difficult to prepare but is not! It has a combination of flavors: sweet and bitter (because of the cocoa). I recommend everyone to try it, is delicious!
Degree of difficulty: medium
Preparation time: 40 minutes + 50 minutes in the oven
Ingredients:
- 300g white flour
- 140g potato starch
- 150g butter at room temperature
- 100ml milk
- 16g baking powder
- 6 eggs at room temperature
- 220g white sugar
- 30g dark cocoa
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- With the electric mixer mix very well the cutted butter and sugar.

- Add the vanilla and the eggs one by one (don’t stop mixing).
- When is creamy, add the sifted flour, baking powder and 100g of potato starch. Mix with a spatula.
- Divide into two parts the dough. Add the remaining potato starch in one and the cocoa in the other. Both must have the same consistence so if the cocoa dough is harder than the other, add 1 or 2 tablespoons of milk.
- Heat the oven at 180°C.
- In a large buttered and floured baking tin, place 2 tablespoons of the white dough in the center and then in the same center 2 of the dark dough.
Continue adding the doughs always in the center until they end.
- Bake the cake for 50-60 minutes and the Zebra Cake is done!
